Arizona’s healthcare market has seen a rapid rise in the use of health information technology solutions to meet the triple aim of better care, improved quality and lower costs. This includes participation in Arizona Health-e Connection (AzHeC), that saw growth of more than 225 percent in 2016. What this means for Arizona’s statewide health information exchange (HIE) is an increased need for input, involvement and support. That is why the AzHeC Board is expanding its governance structure to now include three new advisory councils: a Data Governance Council, a Privacy & Security Council and a Clinical Advisory Council, which will all be standing councils reporting to the AzHeC Board of Directors. More information on these councils is available here.
These new advisory councils which will replace the current Network Leadership Council (NLC) and allow Network participants to become more highly engaged in specific councils and committees addressing the needs and challenges for the future of the statewide HIE.
For more information about the expanded governance structure, you can listen to one of the recorded webinars: Arizona’s Health IT Future: Three-Year Strategic Plan and Expanded Governance & Community Support, that were held on February 13 and February 23. Click to Watch Recorded Session.
